LIVIN' LA VIDA LOCA: As much as I bitch about my travel, it can be cool sometimes. Just back from dinner on South Beach at Nobu. Pretty much one of the finest sushi restaurants in the world, in one of the coolest locales. Great company at my table, and NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon (draped by hot babe) and Casey Mears (sans babe, possibly sitting with Brian Vickers, but not sure given his ballcap) one table over. Not bad.

Not a good idea to talk about your fabulous life away from home when your wife is stuck there, working hard and caring for two children, ages 3 1/2 and 1. Better to keep the whole "fun, cool" thing under wraps.

No way, let him enjoy it! I'm guessing he would've traded that dinner over being home in a second. I recall getting a text from him at 4:45am en route to Miami, really not wanting to be there. So it's called making the best of the situation, and Mr. Mears and Mr. Gordon decided to make it fun. I thought I was cool to sit next to William Cohen... That's way cooler. I expect a full report on Gordon/Nobu!

a) Eileen never reads this.

b) She was the first person I called this morning to tell her about my fun night.

c) She's not "stuck" at home, she actually likes it there!

I guess things are different now than they were when I had young children and your dad was away for business. I was pretty much stuck at home, 'cause we didn't have much money, and I didn't have anyone to leave my children with. I was also eating grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwiches most nights, so when I heard about the leisurely, wine filled steak dinners I was incredibly jealous and found it hard to believe that I wouldn't have wanted to trade places, at least occasionally.

heaven knows eileen enjoys some getting away... remember: she just got back from a week long extravaganza in paris! sounds to me like these guys have it down to a science.

Paris...dinner with famous race car drivers...a whirlwind trip around the world. Sounds like most of the Hess family has it down to a science. Paula, what's up with us? I'm starting to think we deserve some time away from the rat-race. All I've got going for me is a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge this weekend. Ahhh...I get to experience the joys of a giant indoor waterpark WITH my children in tow. What do you think the chances are that Neil Diamond is floating down the Lazy River next to me? Now, that would make the trip!
