GORE TIME? USNews.com's Washington Whispers suggests there are those pushing for a a Gore/Obama ticket in '08. This is the first real alternative I've seen posited to Clinton/Anyone. (Of course the whole issue of running mate(s) doesn't come into play right away.)
Will Obama launch his own campaign, as some of my Dem-insider friends have suggested to me? I'm not particularly well-informed, but on the Dem side of the fence I've heard Bayh, Clinton, Gore, and Obama thrown around. On the Republican side, I hear Cheney, Frist, Giuliani, and McCain. Anybody know anything different?
Pointers to any good sites handicapping/analyzing the '08 election would be much appreciated.

I probably hear Bill Richardson's name mentioned most often followed by Obama and Joe Biden. I'd probably favor Richardson over the other two for many reasons, but either would be an acceptable running mate in my opinion. Richardson is a pretty good guy.

Huh, the comment posting trunced the Bill Richardson url. Try this:

Thanks, Paul. (Is this a Paul I know -- Paul Reg -- or some other Paul. I'm guessing it's some other Paul.)
I read that quick TIME piece on Richardson. Sounds interesting. The dormant lefty in me likes that he's Hispanic, although I'm not sure why or if it's even a good thing to think.
I'm no Biden fan -- he seems like such a grandstander and an insider. McCain is probably a grandstander, too, he's just better at it. I know almost nothing of Obama except that he's handsome and has a good voice. I don't know his politics at all.
Given what little that article told me about Richardson, I like him better than Hillary. I have a visceral negative reaction to her. I don't believe her, trust her, like her, etc. Never have, even when I was voting for her husband.
Anyway, Paul, thanks for the comment/links!
I'm a friend of Trisha's from Hamilton. I remember hearing about you and her brother liking Ishtar. I still don't see it, but then again, I think "The Man with one Red Shoe" is hilarious..so, there's that.
I think anyone in the Senate or Congress is too much of an insider(With the possible exception of the late Paul Wellstone). Plus, as both houses have become more polarized, voting records on both sides of the aisle have become too easy to campaign against. I don't really think it's in either party's interest to put up someone from either the Senate or House.
If the whole thing didn't mean so much, it'd certainly be an entertaining race to sit back watch.
Paul, are you a Wilson Junior High grad? Go Knights!
Garfield!
On the Republican side, I'm also hearing Romney, Pataki and Lugar. None of them stands a chance against McCain.
For the Dems, Gore and Obama are just wishful thinking on the part of some. In addition to those you mentioned (and Richardson - thanks Paul), we've also heard that Kerry and Edwards will both be having a go at the prize. Again. Ugh.
